VICTORY

by Sandra Tascarini
oil commission
aerial photo resources by Randy Heaton

I wanted to show  Victory, the part of the monument that is difficult to see, when the monument is seen from the ground.
The Soldiers and Sailors Monument has a granite figure of Victory with bronze figures of  sentinel and  sailor from the Civil War and was dedicated on 5/30/1889.  The memorial was made possible through a bequest from the estate of Albert G Cook, a president of the First National Bank of Seneca Falls.  He wanted to leave something that would be a monument to the brave soldiers and sailors who gave their lives for our country.

New sketchbook and self portrait

Self portrait and words from a sign at the John Burroughs Sanctuary to start my new sketchbook.  "If I were to name the most precious resources of life, I should say books, friends, and nature; and the most constant and great of these is always at hand, it's nature.  Therefore, collect moments, not things... well, except for books!  And keep a few crazy friends.  They'll make you feel normal."

Sketched from life... this is my traveling buddy, Pandi (Pandora).  I just started my new sketch book that I made with rives bfk paper.

Have been lazy about posting my sketches but hopefully will be better at it now.  I went to a sketchcrawl in Rochester recently.  These are some of the sketches.
